Exposure Visits to 16 Government Facilities for GBV, Child Protection, Drug Rehab, etc.
Abbottabad, Haripur, Mardan, Nowshera & Peshawar
December 2022-January 2023
Based on a needs assessment conducted in November 2022 involving 25 women’s organizations in 5 KP districts, the Foundation facilitated exposure visits to 16 government facilities including the Women Crisis Centre, Darul Amans, Child Protection Units, etc. Meetings were also held with the Social Welfare Departments and the District Reconciliation Council. 80 women leaders and 21 male allies participated in the visits, which helped them become more familiar with the facilities provided, location, and ways in which citizens may access these government facilities. “I was not aware that such a facility is available for survivors of GBV,” said a woman leader visiting the Darul Aman in Haripur. Government officials also appreciated the opportunity to share details of the services. “This is the first time that local women have visited us to enquire about our services,” said the Manager of the Women Crisis Centre in Peshawar. The exposure visits were arranged under Fempower Pakistan, a multi-year project seeking increased women’s political participation and access to rights & entitlements.
