“Women Leaders’ Groups-She Can Lead” a Partnership Program in Abbottabad

The three-year (July 2017-June 2020) partnership programme: She Can Lead (SCL) was implemented by the Foundation in collaboration with Oxfam Pakistan, with funding from Australian Aid. Due to COVID-19, the training of Women Leaders Groups (WLGs) from Districts Abbottabad, Haripur & Mansehra only included one representative from each of the 6 WLGs. The training helped participants better understand the need for the involvement of women in politics and governance. Experiences from SCL were also reviewed in terms of objectives, partners, activities and outputs. SCL’s unique design that included pre and post 2018 election phases was discussed. Participants also discussed Covid-19 and the impact, especially on women, children and the elderly, of lockdowns it made necessary. The WLGs discussed the efforts they had made to help people prevent the spread of the corona virus disease, and appreciated the IEC material provided by the Foundation. “This will communicate important and urgent messages to help people take protective measures against Covid-19,” said a WLG member from Abbottabad. Another member from Mansehra committed to displaying the material through social media that has an impressive following.
